And another new family abduction victim

I just got sent a link about the case of Yazmina Acar, abducted by her father in November 2010 from her Australia home and later murdered by him. He told his ex-wife he did it to get back at her, which is really the motivation for most family abductions. He pled guilty to her murder several days ago.

I wish I didn’t have to keep adding to this list.

Another family abduction death to round out the year

Danyela and Deyan Perisic were both shot by their non-custodial father when authorities came to arrest him. Deyan was killed and his sister critically injured. This is sadly not a new phenomenon: Deirdre Crowley and Rebecca Aramburo were both murdered by their abducting parent when the authorities found them. (I will not state the string of curse words I said when I got the recovery notice from NCMEC informing me of Deyan’s death.)

And another family abduction victim

Zara Malani-Lin Abdur-Raheem. I had known about her case for some time but I was unaware her father was also charged with kidnapping her. She will be added to the victims list, and I am now too drained for tears.

The first victim of the year

Aja Johnson, abducted by her stepfather after the murder of her mother, has been found deceased, along with the stepfather. Another dead child from a family abduction. (Yes, I do consider stepparents who abduct family abduction cases. I might do the same with a long term boyfriend or girlfriend, but I haven’t come across a case like that yet.)

This never gets easier. Never. And I’m not sure if I want it to.

The fourth one this year

Jack and Duncan Connolly.

Christopher, Daniel, and Richard Sanchez.

Diana Alagha.

And now I must add Mitchell Romero to the mix. He was abducted by his father, who had killed his mother. It was an accident, sure. He was in a car in Mexico that rolled over. But that doesn’t make it any easier to deal with.

This is too much to take. After all these dead children, why isn’t parental kidnapping taken seriously? What’s it going to take?

Diana Alagha – reflections four days later

After a few days of thinking, I hope that I can put my thoughts together on the death of Diana Alagha in a semi-reasonable manner.

When I wrote that Luna Fox had been found safe, I noted that she was found because she was treated for diabetes, and that the consequences could have been much more devastating if she had not been brought for treatment. This is the sort of thing I was afraid could happen. The story given was that Diana broke her arm, it was set badly, and she got an infection and died. Her father and his family are looking into this to see if it is really the case. If it is really the case, I wonder if she got any medical treatment at all, or if the bone was just set badly at home.

Many families of the missing say what is most difficult is hearing about accidents and disasters in other places and not knowing if their family member was part of this. But many of those families are ones who believe or suspect their family member met foul play. In family abduction cases, most assume their child is still alive. I usually think the same thing. If I had to guess at cases where the abducted child might be dead, I would first list the cases where child(ren) were abducted after a homicide. Cases with medical issues or a parent with a history of violence would be next. I certainly didn’t think Diana would be one of them. I wouldn’t have predicted when I posted she had been missing for thirteen years she had been dead for the past three.

I may not be able to do anything for Diana now. But if I use her death to work harder at helping other abducted kids come home, there will be fewer endings like this.

One word I did not want to hear today

I noticed that a missing child, Diana Alagha, was no longer on NCMEC. I sent an e-mail to them, reproduced below.

Do you know if Diana Alagha has been found? She’s not on NCMEC or the California DOJ anymore.

Annie

I got back a one word response.

“Deceased.”

I didn’t want to see this once. I’ve now seen it twice.

I will resolve her case, and put up a new one, but not right now. I need to go off and cry for a bit.

edit: resolved case. Sage Bermudez Rayon has been added to the site.

Christopher, Daniel, and Richard Sanchez found deceased

I never wanted this to happen to family abduction kids on my site.

It now has.

All three were found dead in their father’s car, which had been run into a lake. The father was also inside. It coud be accident. It could have been murder/suicide. No one will ever know.

I’ve added the cases of Adam and Jason Shannon and Luis Munguia-Zendejas. I’ve updated the victims post. Right now I’m too depressed to do anything else.

A family abduction. Another set of dead kids.

But it’s okay. They were with a parent.

Apparently Caylee Anthony wasn’t ever missing at all

Please note sarcasm.

This wonderful jewel of a website, run by parental kidnapper Emmanuel Lazaridis (who has posted on this blog before) says she was never missing because – get this – her mother knew where she was. By this standard only a few people are missing, because I would say in ninety-nine percent of the cases of missing people at least one person knows where they are, even if they don’t say.

I will also note that he apparently sent a sixty-three page lawsuit to a paper that reported her disappearance and her mother’s search. I eagerly await my own sixty-three page lawsuit. I hope he also gets one from the real NCMEC site as he has copied their source code without permission.
